Govt. releases K7m to pay farmers in Serenje

 

Serenje, ZANIS January5—Government has released K7 Million to pay farmers in Serenje District who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

 

Serenje District Commissioner Charles Mwelwa told ZANIS in an interview that government, released K6.4 million two weeks ago and has released an additional K7million to continue paying the farmers in the district for the maize they supplied to FRA.

 

Mr Mwelwa said the additional K7milllion will see farmers in the district continue receiving their dues throughout the week.

 

And Mr Mwelwa has assured farmers who stormed his office this morning over the money saying the money will reflect in the bank today and farmers will immediately start receiving their payment.

 

The District Commissioner also disclosed that before the end of week government will send more money to ensure farmers in the district continue receiving their money.
