300 famers benefit from  the 2014/2015 Food Security Pack in Solwezi district

 

 

Solwezi,  January 5, 2014, ZANIS —-  Three hundred vulnerable but viable farmers in Solwezi district have benefitted from the Food Security Pack for the 2014/2015 farming season.

 

ZANIS reports that Solwezi district commissioner, Crispin Likando who confirmed the development to in an interview Solwezi today.

 

Mr Likando who said all the farmers have since received the inputs. He expressed happiness that all the inputs have been received in time for planting.

 

He has since called on the farmers not to sell the inputs because they are meant to improve food security and alleviate hunger at household level.

 

Meanwhile, Mr Likando has described as cheap politicking claims made by the opposition that government has not paid farmers that sold maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in the district.

 

Mr Likando said government has paid out over K12 million to all the farmers that sold their crop to FRA.
