Chief Kanongesha urges peaceful elections

Mwinilunga, December 30, 2014, ZANIS…..A traditional leader in Mwinilunga district of Northwestern province has called on politicians and people in the region to uphold peace and unity ahead of the January 20, 2015 presidential by-election.

Senior Chief Kanongesha who is also provincial Council of Chiefs Chairperson said for the country to hold free and fair presidential by-elections on 20th January 2015, there is need for all well-meaning citizens to maintain peace and order before, during and after the polls.

The Traditional leader was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Mwinilunga district today.

Senior Chief Kanongesha has since urged youths in the province to exercise maximum restraint and self-discipline by not allowing selfish politicians to use them as tools of violence during the on-going campaign period.

He has also encouraged all registered voters in the province to turn up in large numbers on January 20th, 2015 to vote for their preferred presidential candidate.
