—–Government has disbursed K 454,545 out of the K 1,455,389 for construction of classroom blocks, staff houses and an ablution block at the newly-upgraded Pokola Secondary School in Kabompo district.

Kabompo District Education Board Secretary, Febby Kilele, said the initial disbursed K 454,545 will be used to construct a 1 x 3 classroom block and one staff house while the balance will cater for another classroom block, two staff houses and an ablution block.

Ms Kilele said the release of funds is an indication of government’s commitment to providing quality, accessible, equitable and efficient education to rural communities as well.

She said the construction of additional classroom blocks will help create space for a conducive learning environment for pupils at the school which will run from pre-school to grade twelve.

Meanwhile, Pokola Secondary School Parents Teachers Association Chairperson, Geoffrey Lingwavo, commended government for initiating the project and appealed to the community to cooperate in providing 25 per cent needed of them towards the project.

Last month the local authority rehabilitated a 1×2 classroom block at the school using Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
