Egyptian illegal immigrants fined
Chinsali, December 17, ZANIS—————A 34 year old Egyptian national has been fined K20, 000 or in default nine months imprisonment with hard labour for illegally entering the country.
Appearing before Chinsali Magistrate Shadrick Chanda was Tawfik Hang Sabraawad, a carpenter, charged with one count of illegal entry contrary to section 12(3) as read with section 56 (1) of Act number 18 of 2010 of the Immigration and Deportation Act of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on 10th December, 2014 Sabraawad did enter into Zambia through Nakonde border post illegally after being denied entry.
The Prohibited Immigrant pleaded guilty to the offence..
In passing judgment, Magistrate Chanda ordered the convict to pay a fine of K20, 000 before closure of business today or in default serve a nine months imprisonment with hard labour with effect from the date of arrest.
In mitigation, the convict pleaded for maximum leniency from the court saying what he did was wrong and that he will not committee a similar offence.
