——————A concerned senior citizen in

Shangombo District in Western Province has called upon Sinjembela Member

of Parliament Poniso Njeulu to spearhead the completion of Cuandu

Community Radio station.

The citizen who spoke to ZANIS in Shangombo on condition of anonymity

stressed that it was unfortunate that a building for a radio station was resting idol since it’s completion in July this year.

He noted that the need for a community radio station in the area cannot be over emphasized because the community needs access to adequate and accurate information.

And when contacted for a comment Mr. Njeulu said the Constituency Development Fund Committee was still committed to establishing a community radio station in the district.

Mr Njeulu said the Information Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has granted the local authority a constitution permit for the radio station.

Mr. Njeulu who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Deputy

Minister said the council has also awarded a contract to Bluetooth

Investment Limited to fit in radio equipment as well as work on the sound

proof system for the radio station.

Shangombo District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) allocated

K400,000 from last year’s Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for

the construction and purchasing of equipment for a community radio

station in the area.
