Lundazi farmers protest non-payment

———— Farmers in Lundazi district yesterday protested for the fourth time demanding to be paid their money for maize sold to the Food Reserve Agency-FRA August.

 

Armed Police Officers had to be called to disperse several angry farmers who protested and blocked the entrance to Lundazi District Commissioners Office.

 

Last week on Monday, Lundazi District Commissioner Janet Palukani assured the irate farmers that they would be paid their money on Monday, 15^th December.

 

Farmers told the armed Police Officers in the presence of Ms. Palukani that they were fed up with unfulfilled promises on the payment of their long supplied maize.

 

The farmers wondered why farmers in Lundazi District have not been paid their money, when their counterparts in other districts around the country have been paid.
