Govt bemoans continued road accidents

——-Government has expressed sadness at the continued loss of lives on Zambian roads despite numerous campaigns aimed at abating road carnages.

In a message of condolences to the families of the four road accident victims, who died in Kabwe yesterday, Information and Broadcasting Services Minister,Joseph Katema, said the loss of lives on Zambian highways is a monumental loss to the nation.

Dr Katema, who is also Chief Government spokesperson, said the deaths of the driver and three members of the same family coupled with injuries of other passengers is regrettable.

He said the injury of the players is a serious blow to the national soccer team and to the country’s chance of winning the Africa Nations cup.

Government has since cautioned motorists during the festive season to exercise maximum caution on the roads as a way of abating accidents.

Dr Katema has wished the three injured Chipolopolo players a speedy recovery so that the can help the national team win the coveted trophy in Equatorial Guinea.

He said the nation is mourning with the grieving families on the loss of the four Kabwe accident victims.
