NAPSA donates K1, 500 to Mbala Home Based Education (HBE) Centre

 

Mbala, December 12^th, 2014, ZANIS —–   National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) has donated K1, 500 to Mbala Home Based Education (HBE) Centre for children and young adults with multiple disabilities.

 

 

And Acting Mbala District Commissioner, Felix Mungaila  has appealed to individuals and organization within and outside Mbala to emulate Napsa’s gesture to support the Home Based Education Centre for children and young adults with multiple disabilities.

 

 

Presenting the cheque to the centre in Mbala district, today,  NAPSA Mbala Branch Manager, Alinani Silengo said his organization decided to donate to the centre as a way of celebrating 50 years of the Country’s Jubilee with the children and young adults with special needs.

 

 

Napsa has desired to be part of the integral partners with the centre so as to fulfil the corporate social responsibility to the community of Mbala, he said.

 

 

And Acting Mbala District Commissioner, Felix Mungaila  has appealed to individuals and organization within and outside Mbala to emulate Napsa’s gesture to support the Home Based Education Centre for children and young adults with multiple disabilities.

 

 

Mr. Mungaila said the centre which is run by Households in Distress Integrated HIV and AIDS (HID) Programme of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary has no capacity to meet all the required facilities and materials needed at the centre.

 

 

He pledged government’s continued support to the centre so as to provide conducive learning for the children with multiple disabilities.

 

 

Earlier HID Programme Coordinator, Elastom Kunda thanked Napsa for the donation and assured the organization of putting the money to good use.

 

 

Mr. Kunda said the centre has lined up activities to improve and meet the aspirations of the children at the centre but was constrained with the inadequate funds and materials.

 

 

The Mbala Home Based Education Centre has 42 children and adults with multiple disabilities in the categories of muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, orthopaedic impairments, down syndrome, sickle cell anaemia, scoliosis, neural tube defects (spinal bifida), poliomyelitis, communication disorders and add-attention deficit disorders.
