Mwinilunga district Commissioner Irene Mate has warned that government will not condone shoddy work on any infrastructure developmental projects in the district funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Mrs Mate says government is spending huge sums of money on infrastructure developmental projects in different sectors of the economy under the CDF.

She added that it will not allow substandard structures to take a center stage in the district as they have no positive impact on communities.

The District Commissioner was speaking in Mwinilunga district yesterday when she inspected rehabilitation works of Nyamakabila Bridge funded by CDF in Mudanyama ward.

Mrs Mate said government wants to see CDF being utilized prudently and on projects that will add value to the lives of people in rural communities and not to be abused for personal selfish motives.

And a resident of Mudanyama area Sylvester Kachong’u said the Nyamakabila bridge is a death trap to the community especially school going children who cross it on a daily basis to access education on the other side of the area.

Mr Kachong’u said there is an urgent need to put up a concrete and permanent structure that will stand a test of time and to avoid people being cut off from the rest of the town with the onset of the rainy season.
