Zambia United – Kasama residents swamp airport to meet Hichilema.

AS POLITICAL PARTIES KICK START CAMPAIGNS AHEAD OF THE JANUARY 20, 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, POLITICAL ACTIVITIES ARE SPREADING ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

The political frenzy yesterday hit Kasama as scores of residents flocked to the airport to meet United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema.

The helicopter carrying Mr Hichilema touched down at Kasama airport at 16:40Hours and he was welcomed by the regional party leaders and supporters.

Others on hand to receive Mr Hichilema were Lubansenshi independent Member of Parliament Patrick Mucheleka, 2011 Kasama Central parliamentary aspirant Chilekwa Munkonge, UPND national trustee Benard Mpundu and party deputy secretary general Kuchunga Simusamba.

Mr Hichilema was accompanied by UPND national chairperson Mutale Nalumango, party vice president for political Dr Canisius Banda

Mr Hichilema then proceeded to Chitimukulu where he paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Chitimukulu the designate and Bashi Lubemba where he was greeted to a special royal welcome.

The UPND leader then wrapped up the day with a live paid-for programme on Radio Mano.

He is expected to leave for Mansa today for continuation of his campaign trail dubbed, ‘Zambia United’.
