Luapula PS cautions civil servants against engaging in politics

Luapula Province Acting Permanent Secretary Joyce Nsamba has cautioned civil servants in the province against political activism at places of work.

She said public officers should adhere to cabinet office circular No. 9 of 2014 in the light of the forthcoming presidential by-elections to be held on January 20, 2015.

In a minute signed by Assistant Secretary Joshua Kamanya to all districts, statutory bodies, councils and government departments, the Acting Permanent Secretary called for civil servants to discharge the duties assigned to them by the government of the day with loyalty.

She said public officers should not allow their personal political views to influence or interfere with the discharge of their official duties.

She said public servants should strictly observe the code of ethics for the public service in their conduct.
