• DRAMA IN THE PATRIOTIC FRONT HAS REACHED ITS CLIMAX WITH MILES SAMPA BEING VOTED PARTY PRESIDENT AT THE SECOND GENERAL CONFERENCE HELD AT KABWE’S MULUNGUSHI ROCK OF AUTHORITY YESTERDAY.

This now brings the number to two party presidents after Edgar Lungu’s election at an initial conference held on Sunday.

Mr Sampa was however NOT declared winner by the returning officer owing to a court injunction obtained by the Edgar Lungu team.

The Matero law maker emerged winner after polling 900 votes followed by his closest rival Kasama MP, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba who got 195 votes.

Commerce Minister Bob Sichinga had 7 votes while Edgar Lungu and Dr Christine Kaseba Sata polled 5 votes each with Ambassador Seleman Phangula Banda getting 4 votes.

However, three candidates namely Given Lubinda, Chishimba Kambwili and Wylbur Simuusa withdrew from the race yesterday citing irregularities.

Yesterday, the Lusaka High Court issued an injunction against the holding of the General Conference.

The General Conference held on Sunday declared Edgar Lungu as PF President after going through unopposed as other contenders failed to show up.

Meanwhile, inter-party hearing in the matter is slated for today.
