——Patriotic Front (PF) National Chairperson,  Inonge Wina, has castigated some sections of the media for fabricating reports that the PF congress scheduled to take place at Munlugushi Rock of Authority today has been engulfed in violence.

Ms Wina stated that some media houses are determined to highlight violence which has not occurred at the ongoing PF General Conference in order to tarnish the image of the party.

The PF National Chairperson said it was disturbing and regrettable for some media houses to report on the violence which never occurred at the conference.

She said it is sad that some people can go at great length to report falsely in a bid to satisfy their personal ego and hatred for the ruling party.

Unnamed media house yesterday reported that violence had erupted at the PF congress resulting in some PF presidential aspirant candidates to shy away from going to the conference centre.

Addressing a sea of PF faithful in Kabwe, Ms Wina appealed to the party loyalists to remain peaceful and united in order to shame the distractors of the party.

Ms Wina, who is also Gender and Child Development Minister, assured the PF supports that elections for the party presidency will proceed today after the PF national council meeting, which is composed of PF councillors, MPs and Central Committee, is concluded.

She explained that the party will hold the general conference in line with the party constitution.

Ms Wina noted that the party is determined to hold free, fair and transparent elections for the PF top job.

The National Chairperson implored provincial and district officials to assist the secretariat in identifying eligible voters among the thousand members who have converged at Mulungushi Rock of Authority.

Ms Wina further appealed to non-delegates to leave the venue of the conference so that the election process proceeds smoothly.
