-Tanzania Zambia Railways Authority (TAZARA) workers have gone on an indefinite strike demanding their four months salary arrears.

The Workers who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama today.

The workers said they have paralyzed operations of the rail company since Thursday last week, adding that they will only report for work when their demands are met.

They have also called for the immediate dismissal of the company’s top managers who they have accused of failing to run TAZARA.

The workers added that despite government injecting funds in the once vibrant company a few months ago, the conditions at the company have continued to deteriorate.

When contacted for a comment by ZANIS, TAZARA Public Relations Officer Ernest Mwape requested for more time to consult his superiors.
