Former republican President Rupiah Banda has officially announced his political comeback and candidature in the 20th January, 2015 presidential election.

Mr Banda says his main priority if reelected will be to deliver a people driven constitution.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka this morning,Mr. Banda notes with sadness that Zambians have suffered enough for the last three years.

Mr Banda says there is need to change the way things are being done by providing quality leadership to the nation.

He says Zambia’s greatest natural resource is her people and that it is time the country begun to build a stronger nation by recognizing the young people in real leadership.

Mr Banda adds that old divisions must be cast aside.

Asked on government’s intentions to stop giving his retirement benefits following his decision to return to active politics, the former president says taking away his benefits amounts to robbery.

And commenting on the decision by his son Andrew to endorse UPND’’s Hakainde Hichilema, Mr Banda says his son is a grown up person and has the right to endorse the leader of his choice.

The former president has since received his adoption certificate from the MMD as the former ruling party’s presidential candidate.

  1. So, Mr Banda doesn’t even care his cases which are in the courts of law? Does he want his fugitive son to return freely? Again, he wants to come and sell Zamtel and grab Finance Bank? His sons should come and continue with their oil deals? Isn’t this taking Zambians for granted?
