Govt sends FSP inputs to Luano
Luano, Nov 25/14, NAIS/ZANIS————The Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health in Luano district has received farming inputs for the Food Security Pack (FSP) exercise.
This was revealed during the District Food Security Committee meeting in Luano.
Luano Assistant Community Development Officer, Shimaluba Mukatasha, announced that 1000 x 50kg bags of fertiliser and 250 x10kg bags of maize seed had so far been received in the district.
Ms Mukatasha further explained that beans seed and groundnuts were expected to be in the district before the end of the week.
She said the distribution of the inputs to the 250 beneficiaries in Old Mkushi, Coppermine, Kulumashiba, Lunsemfwa and Kabololwe, shall commence soon.
Speaking during the same meeting, Luano District Senior Agricultural Officer, Roy Kalipenta, called for closer supervision and monitoring of the distribution exercise so that the inputs are utilised properly.
Mr Kalipenta further called for closer collaboration between Government departments in the district when implementing poverty alleviation programs so that food security is enhanced and poverty levels are reduced in the new district.
