CEEC to give vender loans

Shiwang`andu, November 26, 2014, ZANIS… ..Northern province Manager for Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) Traceford Phiri says government has developed a strategy to upgrade businesses for venders in the country.

Mr. Phiri said that Government will be giving loans to business venders such bricklayers, stone crushers, welders, bicycle repairers and carpenters among others to prevent street vending.

He said that once businesses for venders are upgraded it will result in the creation of employment among the beneficiaries and less dependence on white color jobs.

ZANIS reports that Mr Phiri said this yesterday during a CEEC meeting to sensitive Shiwang’andu residents and business houses on the availability of the loans.

Meanwhile, Shiwang`andu District Administrative Officer (DAO) Stephen Mulenga has implored  stakeholders in the area to apply for the loans.

Mr. Mulenga advised those interested in acquiring the vendor loans to get application forms at the District Commissioners’ office up to Friday this week.

Mr. Mulenga said if a lot of people benefited  from the loans it would help  mitigate poverty among vulnerable but viable people in Shiwang`andu district.
