The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has declared that it is ready to handle any disaster this rain season.

Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President Davies Mwango said DMMU has identified chronicle areas that are prone to floods and food shortages such as Chief Nabwalya’s Chiefdom where the state will work round the clock to address the problems.

Mr Mwango disclosed that the national resettlement policy has been developed and is awaiting cabinet approval.

He further said government has developed guidelines for compensation and resettlement of internally displaced persons.

Mwango was speaking when he officiated at the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) National Introductory Training held in Chisamba today.

The training is aimed at equipping delegates on managing population displacement in Zambia.
