Lukulu farmers receive their dues
Lukulu, November 21, ZANIS —About 190 out of 203 farmers who sold maize and rice to government through the Food Reserve Agency in lukulu district have been paid.
And Lukulu District Commissioner Precious Muyenga has thanked government for paying the farmers in the district.
Ms. Muyenga has since called on the remaining 13 farmers who have not yet gotten their money to come forward as the district received the money a month ago.
The DC told ZANIS in lukulu district that this year government purchased 7171 x 50kg bags of white maize as compared to last year when 4075 bags we’re purchased.
Meanwhile, a farmer Mr. Victor Masati said people have realised the importance of farming and have since started taking farming as a business.
He has since appealed to government to improve on agriculture service delivery such as employing more extension officers who give agriculture education to farmers.
