Acting President Guy Scott has elavated Bridget Atanga to position of PF Secretary General, and has appointed Lawyer Anthony Kasolo as her Deputy.
Mrs Atanga takes over from Edgar Lungu who has applied for the position of PF Presidency and possibly,to be elected a candidate of the party for the presidential bye-election.
However Mr Lungu has dismissed some media reports that he is no longer the Secretary General of the party and says he is only leave of absence pending election of president of the PF.
In today’s Post Newspaper, Mr Lungu has said “iam hereby stating for th record that I have not resigned my position as SG (secretary general). I have sinply taken leave of absence or temporarily stepped aside until our party finalises a decision to select who shall run for the position party president”, Mr Lungu says.
But Dr Scott has said that he is not clear what Mr Lungu wants because all applicants to be considered as president of the PF have had to relinquish their position, which he did, like others.
But Mulenga Sata has not yet relinquished his position as Lusaka District Chairperson. Only Miles Sampa has resigned from his position in the central committee as Chairperson of Commerce.
Meanwhile, Dr. Scott has announced that the PF will spend about two point five million kwacha towards the hosting of the general conference.
Dr Scott says the General Conference is expected to be held in the next eight days comprising five thousand delegates.
He said this at a press briefing at his Office.
And Dr Scott has called on the media to report objectively. He says there is no confusion or chaos in the PF.
Dr Scott says the PF is united and will rally behind the Presidential candidate who will be elected at the General Conference.
