Justice Minister Edgar Lungu has finally filed in his nominations with Acting President Guy Scott for the PF presidency.

Mr Lungu has since relinquished his position as PF Secretary General.

He says the PF Central Committee will assess all the Presidential candidates before deciding to go to the convention or Pick a candidate from among the candidates who have filed in their nominations.

Mr. Lungu who was accompanied by some Cabinet and deputy ministers, PF Members of Parliament, District Commissioners and some senior party officials told journalists that he is 90 percent ready to stand on the PF ticket.

He says the coming out of about seven individuals to contest on the PF ticket shows that there is democracy in the ruling party.

Mr. Lungu states that he is pleased and humbled that he has a huge Following, adding that people have confidence in him to govern the nation.

He has assured the Zambian people that if elected Republican President, he will carry on President Michael Sata’s legacy.

Mr.Lungu says he will not relent but soldier on because he has a vision for the country.

 

Among the people who accompanied Mr. Lungu include; Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda, Community Development Mother and Child Health Minister Emerine Kabanshi, Tourism and Arts Minister Jean Kapata, Transport and Communications Deputy Minister Panji Kaunda among others.

Mr. Lungu has since proceeded to NASDEC where he is expected to address his supporters who have gathered there.

And Kabwata Member of Parliament Given Lubinda is also expected to file in his nominations later today before the Acting President leaves for Ndola for the game between Zambia and Cape Verde game.

And Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Bob Sichinga has joined the race for the PF presidency.

Mr Sichinga has however regretted the infighting that has rocked the ruling party even before tears for the loss of President Michael Sata could dry.

Mr. Sichinga says Zambians will not support the PF for being violent.

 

He says any presidential candidate in this competitive campaign should first recognize the concerns of the young people because they need to be empowered.

Mr Sichinga says this will help the majority young people to become productive and earn a living.

Speaking during a media briefing this morning when he announced his candidature for the PF presidency,Mr Sichinga further stressed the need to sort out the constitution making issue,resolve the Barotseland agreement and complete the infrastructure development embarked on by President Sata among other things.
