Chamber of commerce urged to promote business environment
Solwezi, November 17, ZANIS—Solwezi District Commissioner, Crispin Likando has implored Musele chamber of commerce and industry to operate professionally in order to develop strong local networks which can result in a business to business exchange.
Mr. Likando advised the chamber to focus on promoting good environment for doing business in Musele area and Solwezi district as whole.
He said this at the weekend when he officially launched the Musele chamber of commerce at in Solwezi district.
He said having the chamber of commerce and industry in the area will help the business community to have a mandate and authority to be an essential connection among government, industry, regulators and influential forums which influence business at local, national and
Mr. Likando said government will continue striving to develop policies targeted at achieving a world class environment for doing business.
He said during the sixth national development plan, government will continue to implement the private sector development reform programme aimed at enhancing and facilitating domestic, regional and multilateral trade.
Speaking at the same occasion, Musele chamber of commerce chairperson, Fordson Muzeya said members and the local business community were prompted to form a chamber because of a long time cry to the unfavourable and unfair business practice by investors from the already existing investments.
Mr. Muzeya said the chamber would want to see more local people getting employed from would be contractors to the mine and more local business enterprises getting a fair competition when bidding for contracts.
He added that the chamber hoped to see more youths being sponsored to better learning institutions so that they gain expertise as opposed to the current situation where most senior staff in investments in the area come from outside Solwezi district and North-western province at large.
