Video: Baby elephant fights off pack of vicious lions

Against all odds, a feisty baby elephant has emerged alive after fighting off 14 hungry lions.

Footage captured by journalist Jesse Nash shows a one-year-old elephant being attacked by a pack of lions in Zambia.

Even as one lion clings to its back, the elephant kicks and swings its trunk to defend itself, before the lions scamper off.

Innocent, a safari guide who drove the journalist’s group to the site of the battle, says he was “so worried the baby elephant would be killed right before us.”

“In the 30-plus years I have been a safari guide in Zambia at Luangwe Park, never have I seen anything like this,” he told the New York Post.

Innocent says the baby elephant has been reunited with its mother and been nicknamed “Hercules”.
