Scores of people from Lukulu and Mitete districts gathered this morning at Lukulu Cooperative grounds to watch the live broadcast of the requiem mass for late President Michael Sata on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) television.

Lukulu district Patriotic Front (PF) vice chairperson Mary Kalubi said people from the two districts started camping on Thursday last week to mourn together.

Mrs. Kalubi thanked government through the District Commissioner’s office for opening the funeral camp in the district.

Since Thursday, various churches have been conducting prayer services at the camp.

She said government through the office of the District Commissioner also helped those who have been camping with food and other logistics.

Mrs. Kalubi added that the late President will be remembered in the two districts for the many development projects that have taken place in the last three years.

She named some of the developmental projects as the construction of the first ever modern district hospital, upgrading of some schools and the creation of Mitete district among others.

Meanwhile, Patriotic Front Mitete district women’s league secretary Mayonde Mikosa said the newly created Mitete district has also joined the entire country in mourning the late President Sata who had passion to develop the entire country.

Ms. Mikosa said Mitete residents will greatly miss the late Mr. Sata for the good works in the shortest period he has been in power.
