ZAMBIANS across the country have been advised not to travel for the State funeral but instead follow proceedings on national television, while those in Lusaka have been encouraged to gather at nearest locations where big television screens will be set up.
Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska and Information Permanent Secretary Bert Mushala made the appeal to Zambians in Lusaka yesterday.
Dr Msiska said big television screens would be set up at various points in Lusaka which include the Show, Chawama and Matero grounds with the screens also expected to be mounted at Nkoloma and Woodlands stadiums.
Nine Heads of State have so far confirmed attending the State funeral on Tuesday.
The secretary to the cabinet also announced the closure of the Independence Avenue and roads around the Embassy Park on Tuesday to reduce unnecessary congestion during the State funeral.
Dr Msiska has since thanked Zambians who have so far exhibited high levels of maturity, love and peace during the period of national mourning in honour of President Sata.
Public body viewing at Mulungushi International Conference Centre is expected to be concluded today. The body of the President would be taken to Parliament on Monday and attendance of various activities would be strictly by invitation by the National Assembly. He also said attendance of the burial at the Embassy Park would be strictly by card because of limited space at the Presidential Burial site.
Media coverage at Heroes VIP section, Embassy Park and State House would also be strictly by card.
