Bobby East, Ruth plead guilty, convicted

Lusaka-based musician Robert Chunga popularly Known as Bobby East and his co accused Ruth Mukanga have been convicted for making obscene materials.

Bobby East, 25, and Ruth, 21, have been found guilty of producing or making obscene materials tending to corrupt morals and judgment in the matter has been reserved for November 7, 2014.

Lusaka Magistrate Mwaka Mikalile convicted the duo after Robert and Ruth pleaded guilty to the charge.

The duo was arrested after the obscene video the two filmed themselves in a sexual act went viral on the Internet.

And in mitigation the two informed the court that they were first offenders and apologized to the Zambians.

Meanwhile, the Lusaka Magistrate Court has set January 26, 2014 as the date for continued trial in the matter in which Former President Rupiah Banda is charged with abuse of authority of office.

Chief Resident Magistrate Joshua Banda adjourned the matter this morning as the former Head of State is involved in a number of programmes during the country’s national mourning.

And Mr. Banda shortly after the court adjourned told sympathizers who came to offer solidarity support at the Lusaka magistrate court to put aside political activities until after the mourning period.

The former Head of State says Zambians should unite and mourn President Sata in peace.

Former President Rupiah Banda is alleged to have abused his authority of office involving the government to government oil deal involving more than 2 point 5 million US dollars.
