Residents in Mufumbwe district of North
Western Province have received President Michael Sata’s death as a
shock.

ZANIS reports the grieved resident saying in separate interviews in Mufumbwe that
President Michael Sata’s unexpected death on October 28 in London where he
went for medical check-up is a huge blow to the country.

Matushi primary school teacher, Bertha Ndjovu said Mr Sata was a
visionary leader who championed programmes that will continue
benefitting the Mufumbwe.

Ms Ndjovu said it was through the late President’s reign that teachers
countrywide received improved conditions of service.

“It was under his leadership that teachers received good salaries and
we felt much appreciated by his government,” she said.

, Queen Kikonfwa, another resident said President Sata will be
remembered for completing the main Mutanda-Chavuma (M8) road up to
Chavuma district.

Ms Kikonfwa said this has improved the road network in the area
enabling Mufumbwe district to benefit from national programmes.

Mufumbwe Main Market Chairperson, Henry Sapasa, said late President
Sata had done a lot for marketeers in the country within the three
years that he had been president.

Mr Sapasa stated that government has so far embarked on an
electrification programme in the district which will benefit a lot of
people especially marketeers.

He  affirmed that it is for this reason that the marketeers in
Mufumbwe will mourn the president until his burial on 11th November.

“We have seen rural electrification being done in our rural areas and
some houses have been connected to power at K150 instead of K2,800
which has never happened with other governments.

“Even though he has passed on, agreements have been made with Water
and Sewerage to connect houses to water pipes for as low as K250,” Mr
Sapasa said.

He said that Mufumbwe will always remember the late head of state
through many developmental projects he initiated.

Another resident, Hilder Mbumba said President Michael Sata should be
remembered for implementing the social cash transfer programme in the
district.

Ms Mbumba said the programme was implemented for the first time in the
district to benefit the people of Mufumbwe who had for a long time
lagged behind in terms of development.

Meanwhile, Mufumbwe District Commissioner, Mankshi Mukokwe, has called
on civil servants to mourn the late president through peace, unity,
and hard work.

Ms Mukowe has since urged Zambians to come together as Christians
during this period.
.
And Mufumbwe District Health Inspector, Hudson Mwila said president
Sata will go down in history as among the most hardworking presidents
in the country and Africa as a whole.

  1. Today, I went to the beach front with my children.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it
pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off
topic but I had to tell someone!
