Government to open Sata funeral account

Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has advised individuals wishing to make financial contributions towards late President Michael Sata’s funeral to wait for a specific account that the government would provide soon.

 

Dr Msiska disclosed that government will certainly come up with an account for late President Sata’s funeral which he said would be managed according to government rules and procedures.

 

He warned people against depositing financial donations into an alleged account that has been made by some unscrupulous individuals to avoid been duped.

 

The Secretary to the Cabinet was speaking to journalists at a media briefing at Cabinet Office in Lusaka today.

 

He said government will soon disclose the account number at a named bank to the public where they can deposit their cash and material contributions for the funeral.

 

And Dr Msiska has advised mourners in Lusaka not to all throng to the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport tomorrow to receive the late President’s remains but instead  line up along the route from the airport to Mulungushi International Conference Centre where the body will lay in state.

 

He said this would ensure that the late President is mourned with honour and respect.

 

Meanwhile, Dr Msiska has confirmed that several foreign dignitaries and some Heads of State will be coming for the burial of President Sata but declined to give names.

 

He said the names of the foreign dignitaries who will be coming will be announced when a conclusive programme is confirmed.

 

The late President Michael Sata who died in London at King Edward VII Hospital will be buried on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Presidential burial site at Embassy Park in Lusaka.

 

President Sata’s body will arrive in the country tomorrow, November 1, 2014 at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and will lay in State at Mulungushi International Conference Centre until November 9 to enable members of the public pay their last respects from 12:00 hours to 18:00 hours daily.

 

Dr Msiska also announced that a requiem mass will be held at the National Heroes Stadium on 10th November before burial on the 11th.
