Seventeen bodies recovered in Lake Kariba

Seventeen bodies out of the twenty six bodies that drowned in Lake Kariba in Gwembe District on Friday have been recovered.

The 26 died in a tragic accident on Lake Kariba when their boat capsized while traveling to Kalilezye Primary School for the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Police Acting Spokesperson Esther Katongo has told Qfm news in a statement that the search for bodies on Lake Kariba by a combined team of divers from Zambia Police and Zambia Army has continued and is progressing well.

Ms Katongo indicates that as of this morning, the total number on bodies recovered has come to 17, this includes the three bodies that were recovered yesterday and relatives have been able to identify the bodies.

Ms Katongo says police will update the nation as the search progresses.
