DEC donates to Solwezi orphanage

—–The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in North -western province has come to the aid of Kilelabalanda orphanage in Solwezi where it donated assorted beddings and foodstuffs to the children to mark the golden jubilee independence celebrations.

 

DEC Regional Commander Elizabeth Mumba said when she presented the gifts to the orphans during the drug sensitisation talk at Makole community school that the commission is aware of the challenges the children are going through and wants to offer a helping hand.

 

Ms Mumba said the donation has also coincided with the celebrations of silver jubilee of the existence of the Drug Enforcement Commission.

 

School head teacher, Mary Mulawo, said the institution is in dire need of more classrooms and pupils’ text books to enable the pupils learn normally.

 

Ms Mulawo said currently pupils in one class are sharing three text books and this situation is affecting the learning ability of children

 

And Kilelabalanda orphan coordinator, Gladys Mwanza, said the gesture by DEC was a testimony that the activities of the commission mean well to the community contrary to the perception that they are aggressive people.
