—-Nakonde District Commissioner, James Singoyi, has called on people not to forget the blood of people whose wounds and deaths secured political freedom as they celebrate Zambia’ 50th birthday.

Mr Singoyi said the struggle was carried with a spirit of benevolence and courage which brought into action the highest qualities both intellectual and moral and thus gave honour to this just cause.

He said this yesterday in speech read on his behalf by District Community Development Officer, Morris Kabanda, at Royal Eagle Lodge in Nakonde District during the crowning of Miss Golden Jubilee Nakonde, 2014.

The DC said as people commemorate God’s favour of Zambia’s 50 years of independence for continued peace, unity, democracy, patriotism and prosperity, they should raise their voices to sing and praise God for their great nation, Zambia.

The pageant was attended by various stake holders and residents of Nakonde which saw Niza Nambeya crowned Miss Independence Golden Jubilee.
