Mama Kankasa calls for unity as Zambia celebrates her 50th independence anniversary

 

Lusaka, October 17,ZANIS—Mama Kankasa  has called on Zambians regardless of their political affiliations to come together and celebrate the country’s golden jubilee  which will takes place next week on October 24, 2014.

Mama Kankasa said independence celebrations are not meant for government alone or an individual but for all Zambians to unite and celebrate the freedom that the fore fathers fought for.

She stated that people should not shun the independence celebrations
but come together as one people and celebrate mother Zambia’s freedom
from the colonial rule.

She said this in an interview during the graduation ceremony and independence celebrations for Timothy Jiranda Kankasa Nursery and
Primary School.

Mama Kansasa added that there is need to pray for peace to continue
prevailing in the country as Zambia draws closer towards the golden celebrations which takes place next week.

And Mama Kankasa said there is need for school going children to be
incorporated in the country’s 50th independence celebrations for them to know their country’s history.

She said children should also be educated about what the Zambian National flag stands for and the national colours.
