–Patriotic Front (PF) youth in Central province have called on political parties that are in a habit of shunning celebrating national events not to avoid the independence Jubilee celebrations.

Speaking to ZANIS in an interview yesterday, PF Central province Youth Chairperson, Jaliety Ntembwa, said PFyouth in the province have observed that some political parties in the country are in a habit of politicizing national events thereby shunning attending them.

Mr Ntembwa said the independence Jubilee celebrations are a national event that should not be politicized but celebrated by every well-meaning citizen regardless of political affiliation.

He also urged fellow youth across the country to make the jubilee celebrations colourful by being in the forefront in organizing the event.

“All youth regardless of their political affiliation should not lag behind but be in the fore front and make the event successful,” he said.

And in a related development a Serenje senior citizen has called on youth in the country to be patriotic and respectful to the elderly as the country celebrates its Golden Jubilee independence.

Paul Muzoka, 64, said the jubilee celebrations should remind youth that the freedom the nation is enjoying cost some people’s lives.

Mr Muzoka said youth also need to respect the elderly people if they are to grow into responsible citizens.
