Shibuyunji launches jubilee celebrations

Shibuyunji, October 7, 2014, ZANIS….Shibuyunji District Commissioner Phanuel Mweemba has launched the pre-Independence activities in the district.

Speaking during the launch, Mr Mweemba reminded the workers in the district to keep the vision of Zambia’s forefathers as sung in the National Anthem.

 Mr. Mweemba said there is need for the people of Shibuyunji to guard the peace and unity currently being enjoyed  in the district.

He urged the civil servants in the district to refrain from engaging themselves in partisan politics saying that government will not hesitate to institute disciplinary action against erring officers.

He said the peace Zambia had enjoyed for 50 years of should be guarded jealously.

 The District Commissioner has since commended Michael Sata for giving Shibuyunji a district status.

This year’s independence celebrations will be commemorated under the theme “ Gods favour of Zambia’s 50 years of independence for continued peace, unity, democracy, patriotism and prosperity”.

 Various activities have been lined up in the district including donating food stuffs to the aged, cleaning  the streets, painting of one clinic and a police post as well as tree planting to protect the environment.

 The pre-independence programs in the district will run until the eve of independence on 23 October, 2014.
