Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has warned that the violence witnessed in Livingstone on Monday involving rival Patriotic Front cadres will paralyze the ruling party if left to degenerate.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm News in an interview that the leadership of the ruling party needs to act swiftly and deal with the infighting within its ranks as it has the potential to paralyze the whole party.

Mr Cheembe stresses that it is also important for the ruling party’s Central Committee to call for an extraordinary meeting and place violence top of the agenda.

He has expressed hope that the Patriotic Front leadership will give the issue of violence in the party the attention it deserves.

Mr Chembe however commended PF Secretary General Edgar Lungu for strongly condemning the violence involving rival Patriotic Front cadres in Livingstone yesterday.

The SACCORD Executive Director says Mr. Lungu’s condemnation of the violence is key in instilling discipline in the party.
