Freedom fighters seek jubilee inclusion

—-Some former freedom fighters of Serenje district have asked  government to accord them an opportunity to participate at the Jubilee celebrations on October 24.

Serenje District Former Freedom Fighters Association Chariperson Justine Saili who stormed ZANIS offices today franked by District Treasurer Rock Elisala and District Information and Publicity Secretary Goodwell Kabanda said the purpose of performing at independence was for the association to interact with the young generation.

Mr Saili said Freedom fighters hope that through their performance, members of the community will respect the role they played in the fight for independence.

Mr saili added that political leaders should take keen interest in providing the freedom fighters with maximum social support such as shelter and economical aspirations.

Mr Saili further called on government to honour the freedom fighters in all the districts for their distinguished services they provided during the struggle of independence.

He further said honouring former freedom fighters for the contributions they made to make Zambia what it was today would be an indication of hard work on the part of government.

  However, he advised associations in the district who are trying to interfere in the running of the affairs of the freedom fighters to refrain from such practices.
