PS disappointed with non-completion of dining hall at Mungwi technical school

Mungwi, Oct 2/14, ZANIS——Northern Province Permanent Secretary (PS), Hlobotha Nkunika, is   disappointed that pupils at Mungwi Technical Secondary School are not using the new dining hall constructed by government because it is not fully completed.

Mr Nkunika expressed his displeasure today when he met various government heads of departments in the District Commissioner’s Office.

The PS said according to the information obtained during his last visit to the school the dining hall should have been completed by now.

Mr. Nkunika said the administration should have allowed pupils to be using the building while the remaining few touches were being done on the building.

He has, however, assured the school authorities that the provincial administration would soon fund the remaining works so as to provide a befitting environment for pupils to feed from.

Mr Nkunika said government had spent a lot of money on the project, adding that there was no way the pupils could not be using the building  because of lack of electricity and  grass panes on some windows.

He further assured the administration that his office was making frantic efforts to procure new furniture for the newly constructed dining hall.

The PS was reacting to the report by school head teacher, Wakunjivwa Sinkala, that pupils at the institution were still having their meals outside due to the non-completion of the dining hall.

In another development, Mr Nkunika said calls by Mungwi residents to construct speed humps at Walinkonde curve are justified.

Mr Nkunika, who visited the spot today, admitted that there was urgent need to put-up speed humps at Walinkonde curve to avoid fatalities in future.

Recently, five people perished in separate road traffic accidents at the Walinkonde curve forcing residents to demand for speed humps on the newly tarred road.
