—Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Hlobota Nkunika, has praised the Bank of Zambia (BOZ) for organising school quizzes in all the ten provinces of Zambia to give vital information to the pupils as well as the general public on the role of the Central Bank.
Mr Nkunika also challenged the competing schools to remain focused and bring glory to the province by emerging winners at the national level where finals will be conducted.
He urged the pupils to lead a full trust worthy life and rise to their occasion by working hard in class and avoid examination malpractices.
Mr Nkunika was speaking during BOZ 50th Anniversary Celebration School National Quiz for Northern Province held at Kasama Boys’ Secondary School yesterday.
Speaking at the same function, Northern Province Education Officer, Nerol Mwanapabu, also called on the pupils to be patient in their desire to achieve their goals, saying the elderly people are now leaving the destiny of this nation into their hands after battling for independence from the colonial masters.
Mr Mwanapabu also called on all teachers in the province to put their heads together and ensure that the winning school to represent the province is well nurtured for it to bring pride to the province.
Four secondary schools, namely Mpulungu, Kasama Girls’, St. Theresa Girls’ and Mungwi Technical participated in the semi-finals which witnessed the two girls’ secondary schools pull through to the finals.
Kasama Girls’ Secondary School got ten points followed by St. Theresa Girls’ Secondary Scholl with nine points while Mungwi Technical and Mpulungu got seven and three points respectively.
In the finals Kasama Girls beat their girl counterparts with 19 points to 16 to emerge overall winners to represent Northern Province at national level.
And BOZ representative, Liz Mbuzi, revealed that the winning schools from all the ten provinces will compete in the semi-finals and finals to be hosted by the Central Bank.
