Former Copperbelt University student in the School of Peace and Conflict Resolutions James Simbeye has praised President Michael Sata for showing commitment to a peaceful resolution of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mr. Simbeye said Mr. Sata should be commended for the pronouncement since Zambia and DRC are neighbouring countries whose people have a lot of things in common.

He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka that Zambia was eager to see a peaceful resolution of peace in DRC between the worrying parties.

He said it was good that Zambia was not hesitant to contribute to the lasting peace in the neighbouring country.

Mr. Simbeye stated that Zambia participated in peace and conflict resolution in DRC during the second republic.

He added that this was a gesture which many Zambian and DRC citizens in both countries appreciated.

President Sata yesterday, while in New York where he is attend the 69th United Nations General Assembly,  said Zambia would like to see a peaceful peace resolution in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
