Govt. cautions youths against immoral activities
Lusaka, September12,2014 ZANIS—Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana has advised youths not to engage in immoral activities which may lead to contracting HIVAIDS and other diseases.
Mr Muwana said Zambia needs both the older and younger generation for it to record positive development.
And speaking when he awarded Miss Lusaka and her four counterparts representing Lusaka in the Miss Zambia beauty pageant, Mr Muwana expressed confidence in the contestants of scooping the Miss Zambia contest slated for October 11 this year.
Mr Muwana said the contestants should be role models as they will engage in various activities to support the communities.
The PS who presented the awards to the contestants said the money will go a long way in supporting the ladies as they prepare for the big event in October.
Candy Lupale who scooped the Miss Lusaka beauty pageant received a K5000 award, while 1st princess Stephanie Bwalya received K3000 and 2nd princess Sophila Kayumba received K2000.
And runners up Gladys Kayumba and Catrina Kabaso received K1000 each.
The five contestants will battle it out with other constants from other provinces of the country.
The contestant who will scoop the Miss Zambia beauty pageant will pocket 50 thousand kwacha and will represent Zambia in the miss world competition to be held in London.
And director of Miss Zambia Beauty Pageant Elizabeth Mwanza expressed gratitude for the good gesture showed by the Lusaka Provincial Administration by supporting the contestants as they prepare for Miss Zambia pageant.
Meanwhile, Candy Lupale who won the Miss Lusaka pageant said she was over joyed that government had shown confidence in the pageant unlike many other people who liken pageants to nudity.
She said beauty pageants should be supported as they are not only about nudity but that winners support communities and the vulnerable in society.
