Police and whistler blowers bust illegal DSTV connections

Multi Choice Zambia and Government have lost a lot of money through the syndicate which has been offering illegal DSTV channels to unsuspecting customers.

Multi Choice General Manager Simon Botha says such illegal activities deny government the opportunity to raise revenue and can also have adverse effect on the growth of the TV industry in the country.

Yesterday, eight people were arrested and charged with possession and unlawful dealing in electronic communication apparatus used to connect people illegally to the DSTV Channels.

 In the operation, Police with the help of the Ministry of Information confiscated forty two Q-Sata decorders used in the illegal supply of DSTV signals.

And Information Permanent Secretary Bert Mushala has praised Police and Members of the public for busting the syndicate which has been offering illegal DSTV channels to unsuspecting customers.

Mr Mushala has warned perpetrators of such crimes that the law will not spare them.
