CSO-2010 census findings will assist plan for 2015 national budget-Muwana

Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Wamunyima Muwana says the housing and population findings presented by the Central Statistical Office (CSO) will assist government in planning the national budget.

 

Mr Muwana said the information provided by CSO will guide government in planning the national budget as the information published will provide the necessary characteristics of the population.

 

He said this in Lusaka today at the dissemination of the 2010 population and housing census analytical and descriptive tabulation reports for Lusaka.

 

Mr Muwana said now that government has the information it will be easy to plan especially for Lusaka province.

 

And CSO Director John Kalumbi said the dissemination of results for Lusaka province is an achievement of the set objectives.

 

He said one of the major objectives of the 2010 census of population and housing is to provide information on demographic and social economic characteristic of the population in Zambia at provincial, district and ward level.

 

Mr Kalumbi commended government and cooperative partners for providing the resources to conduct the 2010 population and housing at the time it was required.

 

Meanwhile, United Nation Population Fund UNFPA country representative Mary Otieno commended government for its unwavering dedication to ensuring that the 2010 census population and housing was made available to stakeholders.

  1. Its obvious PS but what is needed for 2015 are proper projected figures for 2015 and not 2010.
