Government is next week expected to meet members of the grand coalition to chat the way forward on the constitution making process.

Justice Minister Edgar Lungu says he is hopeful that the meeting will help resolve the impasse between government and the grand coalition.

According to Mr Lungu, the meeting aims to enhance dialogue with other stakeholders on the constitution making process.

He says a number of issues need to be explained to the organizations calling for the quick enactment of the constitution.

The decision to meet the Grand Coalition on the People driven constitution was agreed in a meeting with the Attorney General and Secretary to the Cabinet yesterday.

Mr. Lungu has meanwhile pledged government’s commitment to having a new constitution in place, but maintains that the country has a constitution in place, and therefore Government will not be rushed to release the draft constitution.

Mr Lungu also says there are also some costs in the constitution making process which must be considered.
