—Proflight Zambia has announced the halving of its flight fares for young passengers in a move aimed at giving children more opportunity to explore Zambia.

The airline has also broadened the age range for youngsters eligible for discounted fares, enabling anyone under the age of 18 to qualify for reduced fares.

Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs, Philip Lemba, said the new policy will come into effect on September 1, 2014.

Capt Lemba has told ZANIS in a statement issued in Lusaka that the policy will continue until further notice for bookings made from Zambia and Malawi.

He said the airline’s vision is to encourage the younger generation to explore the sights, sounds and tastes of their heritage.

The airline’s new fare system means children aged between two and 17 years old will now pay half of the adult fare, a discount of 50 per cent, instead of the previous discount of 25 per cent while Infants under two years old will pay 10 percent of the full fare.
