Tanzanian truck driver killed on the spot in Isoka
Isoka, 28 August, 2014, ZANIS —- A Tanzanian truck driver identified as Richard Kasian Mapunda 27 of Dar-es -salaam died on the spot in a road when the truck he was driving overturned yesterday in Isoka district of Muchinga province.
ZANIS reports that Muchinga Deputy Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso confirmed the accident in an interview in Chinsali today.
Mr. Kapeso said the truck driver identified as Richard Kasian Mapunda aged 27 years of Dar-es -salaam died on the spot while his passenger Ally Athuman Mwaliko 42 was nursing serious injuries at Isoka district hospital.
He said Mapunda who was driving a ERF truck registration number T 997 AWK/T 963ASQ lost control in the process of avoiding a pothole and over turned.
Mr Kapeso said the accident occurred at Ndeke area 30 kilometers of Isoka along the Great North Road.
He said the truck has extensive damage carbine while the trailer container is intact.
The deputy Police Commissioner added that the body of Mapunda is currently lying in Isoka district hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
