The Non Governmental Organisation Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has implored government to take seriously the irregularities cited in the Auditor General’s reports.
NGOCC Executive Director Engwase Mwale says corruption in the country will not stop for as long perpetrators are not dealt with.

Ms. Mwale says the Auditor General has been doing her job by highlighting irregularities in the usage of public funds but that the sad part is that such cases have not been acted upon.

She notes that once government begins to prosecute the people named in the Auditor General’s report, it will help regain the trust the people of Zambia are losing in the government’s fight against corruption.

Ms Mwale adds this will also help deter would be offenders misusing public funds, but that failure to bring to book culprits will instead increase cases of misapplication of public funds.
