Two die, three injured in Kalomo traffic accident
Kalabo, Aug 23/14 ZANIS——-Two people have died and three others are nursing serious injuries in Kalabo District Hospital following a road traffic accident.
The accident happened after the truck driver lost control as he was trying to avoid hitting a child who was crossing the road.
The accident happened yesterday around 18:30 hours on Independence Avenue in Kashitu area in Kalabo district.
Among the deceased is Kalabo prominent businessman, proprietor of Kamunu General Dealers, Majolo Chipango, 50, of Mulamba township.
The driver of the truck, registration number AAZ 9490, Chiinga Likali, also died on the spot.
Both Police and Kalabo District Hospital officials confirmed the accident to ZANIS this morning.
Among the three injured, two have been discharged and one is nursing serious injuries and has been refer to Lewanika General Hospital for specialist treatment.
