Solwezi District Commissioner Crispin Likando has commended Solwezi Municipal Council management for initiating the process of developing its five-year strategic plan.
Mr Likando said the move by the municipal council to put in place a strategic plan is a good initiative that will help the council to start using its resources in a prudent manner.
The DC was speaking when he opened a one day stakeholder Consultative Meeting on the drafting of the council’s strategic plan.
Mr Likando thanked the council for holding the stakeholders meeting because it is through such foras that the council is able to share information that will encourage stakeholders to participate and support council programmes.
He added that the council can also use such meetings to get necessary feedback from stakeholders on how to improve its service delivery.
And Solwezi Town Clerk Ronald Daka said the lack of a strategic plan for the council had impacted negatively on its service delivery.
Mr Daka said the strategic plan will help the local authority to address important issues in the delivery of services such as financial, physical and human resources.
The council is developing its strategic plan with the technical support from the German International Cooperation (GIZ).
