Former MMD spokesperson, Dora Siliya has charged that there is no need for the ruling PF to celebrate victory in the just ended Mangango parliamentary by-election considering the numerous challenges in the country.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Mano News from Lusaka this morning, Ms Siliya noted that the high cost of living and escalating political violence in the country make the ruling party’s victory in a by-election meaningless.

She challenged the ruling PF to do more in improving people’s welfare unlike rejoicing over a mere by-election which she described as employment for an individual.

Ms Siliya, who served in a number of ministerial portfolios in the MMD government, has however congratulated the PF for winning the Mangango seat.

In a related development, Alliance for Better Zambia leader Frank Bwalya has accused the PF of perpetrating violence and character assassination during campaigns in the civic by-elections on the Copperbelt Province.
